If you enjoy the extraordinary stories of Diana Gabaldon, Karen Marie Moning, and the paranormal works of Nora Roberts...

The magic of Scotland...
A love story that crosses the centuries...
Another magnificent, award-winning time-travel romance from the author of The Starry Child

With The Starry Child, author Lynn Hanna created a unique contemporary novel based on the legends, lore, and love of Scotland. Now Ms. Hanna returns to this enchanting world--where the sole survivor of a plane crash on the rocky coast of Scotland discovers the key to his wife's forgotten past, his daughters' dreams, and his own heart...

What greater test of a love is there than the need to trust the strongest instinct of all, the tie of timeless soulmates separated by distance and unimaginable danger? Will faith in that love lead to survival or will all be lost on the rocky and desolate shores of the remote Scottish isles? Matt and Rainey have survived challenges beyond imagining in order to be together. But their journey has only just begun and the perils they must face may tear them apart or bring them closer together. Here is love beyond time, beyond endurance, and beyond the boundaries of the imagination.

Rainey's daughter, Sasha, has reached womanhood and she is about to meet the man who will become her hero, her equal, and the one who will cherish her for all time, if he proves himself worthy.

One more addition to the family... Sasha now has a nine-year-old sister, Carrie, whose Gaelic name means faith. Carrie has a magic all her own and without the legendary wisdom that is well beyond her years, the family may be torn apart.

Here is love beyond the boundaries of the centuries, beyond the boundaries of human endurance, beyond the boundaries of mortality...

When you buy a self published book, you are always taking a chance. Will it be edited? Will it be readable? Usually, you end up happy with a decent story and not too many typos, and those few really great stories are icing on the cake.

This book was one of those great stories for me. Not flawless by any means, but with enough strong positives to make it not just good, but surprisingly good.

This is second in a series following a family caught up in magical hijinks of the Scottish fae variety. There is some historical stuff, but it is not really historical or time jump fiction. I did find some parts overdone. The fae do not seem quite Celtic, a little more Tinkerbell, and some of the imagery is overwrought. I also found the pacing a bit off in this book, with a rush to the middle and then too much boring before end.

However, the authors talent for creating a setting and telling a story is undeniable, on a par with any of the greats. The scenes really pop out and become a living thing, with the characters all in their places. If you enjoyed the first book, this book is a must read. I think that reading the first book sets the scene for the gut wrenching first half of this book, as well.

I love the author's male characters especially. Matt is a fantasy lover's dream, and the new love interest is just as amazing. I think Sasha lost some of her charm to teenage angst, which was a bummer. Still, I can't wait to read the next book!

I found this book after considering another and not purchasing it due to reports of editing issues. This book has a few typos that almost appear to be scanning issues, but is very well edited. The author uses proper grammar and punctuation even. A miracle!

Circle of Time The Starry Child Series Book 2 edition by Lynn Hanna Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews

I was disappointed in this novel, the 2nd in her Starry Child series. It was going along rather well, until the last quarter. Then it seemed to me that the author either got bored with the project or didn't know whatelse to do with the characters. It seriously lost momentum and rather ended with a plop, not very satisfying. I do not think I will bother with the 3rd installment, that was supposed to be released in 2011, well THAT didn't happen now, did it? Goes to show you.
Intense, mystical & amazing! Matt finds himself in great danger, but the women he loves most come to his rescue with a new friend in Kyle. Wonderful addition to an awesome series! Kept me up all night!
Don't get me wrong there are parts of this work that are truly wonderful, such as the description of the plane crash (horror of horrors) and Matt's encounters with the motherly kittiwake bird while he awaits his rescuers. The glimpse of the life Rainey and Matt have shared since The Starry Child (The Starry Child Series) is poignant as well. But there are enough serious problems that it leaves me with a feeling of ambivalence.

1. It's like there are two books here the story of Matt's rescue, which is fast-paced and keeps you turning the pages in anticipation, and then the part afterward, where Kyle fights against his future and his past all at the same time.

2. Sorry, but if what happens between Kyle and Sasha is meant to be a romance, it fails utterly, especially compared to that of Rainey and Matt in the first book. Kyle just doesn't strike me as the hero type, even before he tries to deny his future with Sasha and indulges in childish tirades against people who are dead.

3. It really makes no sense that Carrie seems to know immediately that Kyle is meant for Sasha, and yet as the story ends, she seems disappointed that she can't have him herself. Really???

4. I really, really hate cliffhangers, and this one has a big one. While it is stated that Book #3 will be available in late 2011, it is now July 2012 and no such book is to be found anywhere. Will there even BE one? How fair is that for an author to leave us hanging for an indefinite period like that?

5. While I was entranced with the whole concept of throwing the crown off the top of Glomach Falls in the first book, using the same scenario in this book--throwing the silver necklace off the cliff--seemed rather anticlimactic, especially when the necklace was returned to them. I really didn't understand it, and then it caused me to question the whole concept of throwing things off the cliff to "return them" to the people they belong to. Huh?

6. Although I enjoyed the story of Macha and the selkies, I have to confess I did not understand why they needed Sirona's presence before they could head off to heaven. I'm also confused about the whole concept of the spirits and reincarnation. Is Sirona still part of Rainey, or has she moved on to heaven? Because it appears that Haakon has completely deserted Kyle.

7. Okay, this is kind of a tiny thing--one that I would ignore completely if I liked this book as much as I did the first one--but where were all the reporters who should have been trying to scoop the story on the miraculous recovery of the lone survivor of the terrible plane crash? Oh, and why don't these people have cell phones or computers or anything? There were times when I wondered if these books were written 20+ years ago.

That said, I did enjoy the first part of the book, but found myself skimming a lot toward the end. Not sure whether I will end up returning it and it's doubtful that I will buy the third one, if it ever comes out.
I really enjoyed the first book, The Starry Child (The Starry Child Series) and immediately downloaded this, the second in the series. However, this book is more disjointed and didn't capture the same whimsy of the first. The H and h in this book weren't as likeable and I had my doubts that they were going to make it. Unfortunately the book ends on a bit of a cliffhanger and we are told that the next book is going to be released in 2011! I picked up the first book because of an internet promotion, which I hope means that there is going to be a release of another book. Even though this book wasn't as good, I'd still read the third to find out what happens to all of these characters.
Lynn Hanna has done it again! Circle of Time was a wonderful book with so many interesting things happening which made it difficult to put the book down. A Scottish book with descriptions which made you feel right there. Captivating and very well written. So many surprises in this book as there were in Starry Child. I loved both books so very much.
The ending will keep us waiting for the 3rd book which stated would be out in the fall of 2011, but this is June 12, 2012 and I've not been able to find book three? I can't wait and hope it will be out very, very soon. My will hardly be able to wait and I truly hope that I won't forget the ending as the book will pick up where it left off and there is so much happening at the end of Circle of Time, that I know I simply can't wait for the next book of the series.
