The Ultimate Baby Boy Names Book edition by Linda Alchin Health Fitness Dieting eBooks
Finding a boy name that my husband and I both agree on has proven to be way more challenging than I had anticipated. I bought this book because it was limited to just boy names and I wanted to make sure I had considered them all before making my final decision. I found this book useful in that it contained a nice collection of different types of boys names grouped by ethnicity and heritage; however, it seemed lacking in name meanings and definitions. Some names have disputed heritages or more than one meaning, and this book tended to pick only one and then shorten it as much as possible. I often found myself returning to the internet to get broader definitions and histories. Some of the advice in the book was useful if not completely obvious ("create a unique name through alternate spellings!") while some suggestions seemed bizarre ("make use of unusual punctuation such as hyphens and apostrophes!"). I also did not like the way the book suggested ridiculously popular names as being "unique" such as Aiden and Caleb. The book strangely ends out of nowhere with a random assortment of baby tips, safety tips, and checklists including a Marshall McLuhan quote (I'm not kidding) and cloth diapering instructions which were so intimidating that had I read them when I was considering becoming a cloth-diaperer, I would have never even attempted it (as it stands now, I'm so glad I did!).
Bizarre baby advice aside, I did like a lot of the suggestions that I think some parents will find useful. I also liked that the book included many different cultures, so if you're looking for a name with African or Japanese, Jewish, Biblical, (etc.) heritage, this book contains a nice list for each.

The Ultimate Baby Boy Names Book edition by Linda Alchin Health Fitness Dieting eBooks Reviews
We found this book excellent and highly recommend it to everyone in search of a boys name. The surname section was really interesting as it includes the origin and history of common surnames. The baby name evaluator and baby name quiz are really good as well.
This book has some great sections including some really useful checklists (clothes, safety, toys, travel etc) that I am sure we will be refering to in the months ahead. It is much more than just a dictionary of names which is how most other baby names books are set out.
Personally we loved the section which lists names from different cultures and the African-American and Biblical names are great, no need to buy any other baby names book!
The top 100 US and UK boys names from 2004 to 2008 are also included so it was good to see how popular our name choice was.
By the way it does also include an A to Z dictionary with meanings and origins, it really is the ultimate baby boys name book!
Purchased this book in and am very disappointed. Perhaps if it was easier to flip back and forth between chapters, it would make this book easier to work with, but in general it seems disjointed and was not overly helpful.
It's just OK. They list cultural names but hte cultures seem to be chosen at random, there's a lot more htey could have used. Overall the names you get in here are the same you'd find in an impulse isle baby name book...with the exception of their celebrity name list which I found useless.
